Fima, as the prime contractor of the project, designed and entirely equipped the data centre of the Latvian National Radio and Television Centre, where it implemented a server liquid cooling APC InRow type system, an electric power supply system, server cabinets, etc.
In the course of the execution of the project for the equipping of the 500kW IT data centre, a “room in room” was equipped to protect the equipment of the data centre against direct impact of fire and penetration of water for 1 hour; other engineering systems installed included security alarm, access control, video surveillance, and gas fire extinguishing systems.
The building management system (BMS) together with the StruxureWare data centre infrastructure management system (DCIM) by APC by Schneider Electric monitors the status of the data centre infrastructure in real time, automatically controls the server cooling system, assists in planning and managing changes, and monitors and helps to optimise energy consumption.
The new data centre guarantees uninterrupted operation of information systems for 99.9 % of their active time. This is ensured by redundant power supply and server cooling systems. Besides, the installed server liquid cooling system allows considerable reduction of electric power consumption.
The power usage effectiveness (PUE) of the data centre reaches 1.39.
The equipped data centre is a high density one: one server cabinet can accommodate server equipment with an average capacity of 10kW.
“The data centre equipped by Fima is of the top security level, which is also matched with economic benefit: electric power consumption is reduced owing to modern technologies”.
