FIMA experts reconstructed Kaunas Airport’s runway lighting system to comply with ICAO standards.
Specialists from FIMA reconstructed an airfield lighting system at Kaunas Airport. Old lights were replaced, runway threshold and overrun area lights were installed, the power supply system was completely modernised and new transformer substations and a backup power supply were installed to keep the lighting system running.
The control of the light signalling system was computerised so that flight managers and technical staff are able to monitor the runway, adjust the intensity of the lights in response to meteorological conditions using a touch screen and monitor the overall status of the system.
Following completion of the project, the airfield lighting system at Kaunas Airport complies with all International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards.
