During the first phase of implementation of the Specialised Kaliningrad Transit Programme, FIMA installed surveillance systems in four rail stations, their access points and on the Vokė bridge.
FIMA set up a system that provides more control of the route between Lithuania and Kaliningrad to improve security along what is both a national and EU border. During the first phase of the Facilitated Kaliningrad Transit Programme, FIMA engineers installed IP-based video surveillance systems comprising more than 100 cameras in four Vilnius-Kaunas stations, their access points and on the Vokė bridge. FIMA also installed 2km of sensor cabling to detect border violations on some other sections of the line.
Images are transmitted to video surveillance posts in Vilnius and Kaunas and data is also sent to transport police and Gelsauga, the authority responsible for railway security.
The project created one of the biggest IP-based video surveillance systems in Lithuania.
Under difficult conditions, the work was carried out to a high standard. FIMA staff displayed a high level of qualification and competence.
