Solutions in this project

  • An automatic foam fire extinguishing system

FIMA designed and installed an automatic foam fire extinguishing system in the factory. The system is triggered when a fire hydrant is opened or at least one of the sprinkler ampoules bursts at a temperature of 68°C.

FIMA designed and installed an automatic foam fire extinguishing system in the factory operated by Intersurgical, a medical respiratory systems manufacturer.  FIMA specialists mounted over 6,000 sprinklers in the factory’s production premises, corridors and administrative facilities.

Foam was chosen by Intersurgical as the fire extinguishing material because of its very effective fire suppression features. The system is triggered by opening a fire hydrant or after the burst of at least one of the sprinkler ampoules at a temperature of 68°C. When triggered, the foam coats all surfaces with a blanket of bubbles. As a result, the fire is starved of oxygen, suppressed and then extinguished.

After the installation of the system, the Intersurgical factory was brought into compliance with the stringent requirements of NFPA (The National Fire Protection Association) and insurance companies.
