Solutions in this project

  • Intelligent transportation solutions

FIMA assessed the quality of equipment especially so that it would be suitable for the climatic conditions of Latvia. The new traffic signs focus the attention of both Smiltenė residents and visitors on the speed limits.

In autumn 2014, SIA FIMA installed interactive speed cameras (screens displaying the speed of approaching vehicles) on the main road into Smiltenė. The latest speed cameras demonstrate a positive approach focussing on the attention of residents and visitors drivers to speed limits. These interactive traffic signs are perfectly integrated in the urban environment, contribute to public safety and maintain a positive public attitude to road safety laws. Systems were installed on the roads between Smiltenė and Valka; Smiltenė and Riga; and Smiltenė and Valmiera. The screens provide drivers with road information and encourage them to observe traffic regulations and ensure road safety.

Project exclusivity

The traffic signs installed in Smiltenė are the first of their kind in Latvia.
SIA FIMA entered the project in the “Latvian construction award 2014” competition and it won third place in the “Engineering constructions/infrastructure – new constructions” category.
