FIMA designed and implemented Klaipėda’s CCTV system and was contracted to provide ongoing technical maintenance for ten years.Video from the busiest streets and most-frequented areas is streamed to the police office from an IP-based network of 57 CCTV cameras. During the hours of darkness, the system automatically switches to a night vision mode. All the cameras are water and break resistant and, in the unlikely event of any part of the system being vandalised, the surveillance centre is automatically notified.
More than half of the cameras are remotely controlled from the surveillance centre which has 15 video monitors on which operators can simultaneously watch video transmitted from all of the town’s cameras.Video recording devices have been installed in a special server room which also includes an access control system, a modern automatic fire extinguishing system, a break-in alarm and backup power supplies.
IP technologies allow for further expansion of the network of cameras in the town with minimal investment. The cameras can also be quickly relocated from one place to another.
