We are proud to announce that our company has won the 1st prize in the New Engineering Structure category in the annual Latvian Construction Award 2018 competition. FIMA received the award for its installation of electronic traffic signs as part of the INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS ON HIGHWAY E67 project. The annual competition is the largest contest involving civil construction and engineering in Latvia. This year there were 143 applications and 10 categories.

Our projects are designed and implemented by real professionals who will be delighted by this recognition. The significance of this smart transport system and the value of our work will only increase along with the development of Via Baltica. Every driver sees the results of our efforts: traffic signs which regularly update to ensure road safety whenever there are roadworks, ice, crosswinds, congestion or any other problems which might affect road users.”

As part of the E67 modernisation project – which was carried out in 2018 – SIA Fima installed electronic road signs and linked them with weather stations, modernised traffic lights and installed smart video surveillance systems on crossings and junctions. These integrated systems enhance road safety by creating a modern intelligent transport network. 

There was no ready-made system on the market and a new dedicated IT solution integrating three different systems was developed for the project.
