Back to News

The modernisation of Liepāja railways station in Latvia has been completed and the implementation of the project was officially marked on January 21 at special ceremony. At the event, the client took an opportunity to thank, among others, the professionals of FIMA’s subsidiary in Latvia for their contribution to the modernisation of infrastructure at the station.

The project was implemented by SIA FIMA in collaboration with Thales Transportation Systems. It involved modernisation of signalling systems and reconstruction of the tracks at Liepāja railway station.

SIA FIMA has installed signalling, centralisation, blocking and power supply systems at the station; assembled new transformer substations, reconstructed lighting and surveillance systems for platforms and level crossings and installed new light signals and point heating and automation systems.

The project is part of a continued partnership between Latvian Railways and SIA FIMA. FIMA has also upgraded Latvian Railways’ main data communication network and played a part in the construction of a second track on an important section of the Latvian rail network from Skrīveri to Krustpils.
