FIMA awarded with major radio system project in Lithuania

Back to News

Lithuania’s energy distribution operator ESO has contracted FIMA to implement its DMR Tier II radio communications system, the largest in Lithuania. The system will ensure reliable and secure communication between dispatchers and service teams working on gas and power lines.

The power and gas distribution grid has the status of critical infrastructure, and its operator is required to have its own communications network independent of other providers. The modern digital radio communications to be implemented by FIMA will replace the current analogue radio stations.

FIMA has agreed to build almost 60 digital radio communication transmitters on the available ESO radio communication towers in remote locations and provide mobile and vehicle-mounted radio stations to service teams by end of 2017. Some of the devices are suitable for operating in explosive environments.
