Back to News

FIMA today signed a sponsorship agreement with Kazimieras Simonavičus University (KSU) to donate a package of equipment which will become an important part of students’ laboratory assignments and scientific research.

FIMA has provided the university with an educational laboratory manufactured by its long-term partner, Extreme Networks, to help the specialists of the future learn the trends and opportunities that advanced configuration of network equipment present. The laboratory will be accessible to students from the beginning of the 2015 academic year.

“We are pleased to be able to co-operate with KSU and hope that this co-operation lasts. The university offers brand new specialisations that are very appealing to us as an engineering company, such as web engineering, aviation management, creative and cultural industries, etc. People with these skills are in great demand in Lithuania and we think it is important that we contribute to the promotion of these specialties as well as developing our potential employees,” Director of FIMA’s Telecommunications Solutions Department Vaidotas Černiauskas said as the contract was being signed.

KSU’s web engineering programme is unique for web-based courses on the latest information technology (IT) and has no equivalents in Lithuania. It is vital for the university’s academic community to have access to training infrastructure based on a web engineering laboratory. The new laboratory is being designed for students’ practical assignments, scientific research and professional development in the field of web technology. It requires close partnership with IT companies in which businesses get engaged in the training process and experience sharing.
