FIMA’s daughter company in Poland was involved in a project to build a data centre in the Euro-Centrum Science and Technology Park in Katowice. The new data centre was designed to the highest safety and reliability standards.

Commissioned by NextiraOne (currently, Dimension Data), the data centre is situated on the park’s prestigious and eco-friendly site – a passive building which is the first in Poland to be awarded an Uptime Institute certificate.

In the centre - which has 202 m2 of surface area - FIMA Polska installed more than 80 server racks, 20 of which are able to create a high density zone, with a capacity of 14kW per rack. It also equipped a cold/hot corridor. The racks are connected by a network of copper and optical cables with about 3,000 connectors. The company’s specialists have installed physical safety and fire protection and burglar alarm systems and a BMS that ensures effective management, reading and display of cooling systems and environmental parameters.

The project has been completed to the highest safety, reliability and even 99.982% guaranteed access standards, which corresponds to Tier III. The data centre has two autonomous power supply lines and optical access to WAN and LAN with the data speed-rate between 1 and 10 Gbit/s. It is provided with continuous (24/7/365) service and maintenance.
