Fima and Lithuanian Railways signed a contract on December 19th for the development of a ticket booking and sales system. Once the new system is put in place, travellers will be able to book seats on local routes and buy train tickets online.

“The new system will offer a more convenient way to buy train tickets. Once the system is put in place, travellers will have an option to book and buy train tickets online using the electronic ticketing system“, says Rokas Šlekys, Director of Fima’s Solutions Department.

The new system will also introduce new ticket storage devices which will replace paper tickets that are time limited as well as some one-way tickets. Modern ticket sale and ticket inspection equipment will also be introduced.

The new booking system is expected to be launched at the end of 2014.
