Fima installs engineering systems in Minsk shopping mall

Fima BR – a subsidiary of the intelligent engineering solutions company ‘Fima’ – is installing electronic engineering systems in the new ‘Bonus’ shopping mall in Minsk.

Fima specialists will install several low-current systems in the 13,000 m2 mall including security alarm, access control systems, video surveillance systems and visitor flow counting systems, as well as a Local Area Network (LAN) and communication network. The work is scheduled to be completed in March.

The ‘Bonus’ shopping mall is the first project of its kind that ‘Fima BR’ has undertaken in Belarus. However, Fima’s Business Development Director, V. Zinkevičius, believes that there will be an increasing number of similar projects in the future. He said: “There is still a lack of shopping and entertainment centres. Nevertheless, this sector has recently been developing quite rapidly with new centres being built and existing ones being expanded.”

The new shopping mall, located in one of the most rapidly developing residential districts in the north of the city, is being built by the Capital City Group conglomerate from Lithuania. According to Gediminas Rimkus, one of the group’s directors, Belarusian companies made up the bulk of those chosen to work on the mall. However, Fima BR was chosen to install the mall’s electronic systems because it stood out.

He added: “We chose Fima because of its quality, the reputation of its brand and the company’s flexibility. Our experience tells us that Lithuanian companies stick to deadlines, deliver high-quality work and have an impressive attitude towards their clients.”

Fima entered the Belarusian market and set up Fima BR in 2010. During its first three years, the company implemented a variety of projects of different sizes and complexities. These included installing access control and video surveillance systems for the MAZ automobile factory, modernising mobile operator MTS’s data centre, installing a video surveillance system at TNK BP’s petrol stations and oil depots, installing video surveillance and access control systems in a local logistics centre, performing engineering systems design works at several major public sector projects and modernising transport infrastructure. Several of the road junctions in Minsk are now equipped with a notification system for blind pedestrians created by Fima engineers.
