The company "Fima" of the intelligent engineering solutions has implemented a unique project - the first Surgery Department of the Šiauliai County Hospital was opened after the renovation yesterday, which operates the modern hospital nurse call system specifically designed by "Fima“ for this hospital. This is the first mobile nurse call system in Lithuania.

"The usual nurse call systems used by the country hospitals are inflexible as the employee has to sit at the duty post permanently and observe the signals from the wards. Our created system allows the nursing staff to be mobile and to receive the signal sent by the patient at any place of the building "- said Sergejus Bulachas, the director of the company "Fima" for Šiauliai region. According to him the use of this modern system will allow the personnel of the surgical department to learn about the danger to the patient not only from the monitor installed at the duty post, but also via the portable pager.

"It is very important for the convalescent patients to get timely help after the surgery. Under this system our nurses will respond more quickly and will hurry to help the patients. We are pleased that we applied to the company "Fima" while searching for the least costly and the most functional decision - their developed system really surpassed our expectations ", - says Vygentas Jocius, the director for the hospital equipment and economy of the Šiauliai district.

The system, specially developed for the Šiauliai County Hospital by „Fima“ specialists, links up 57 beds in the wards. The software of the system allows to collect the history of calls, to analyse the work of the nursing staff. The signal received by the nurse shows not only in which ward, but also in which bed the lying patient needs help.

Accorging to the assertion of "Fima" specialists, the modern nurse call systems could also serve other hospitals of the country because the possibilities are broad: the system allows both the patient and the nurse to communicate vocally, it can be programmed so that the signal about serious patients and critical changes should not be sent by the patient himself but by the equipment that monitors the state of the patient. After the integration of the nurse call system into the access control system, the movement at the hospital area can be monitored better, for example the patient, who has memory disorders, can be monitored by placing a special bracelet so that he would not wander away from the territory of the hospital.
