Fima, the leader of intelligent engineering solutions, had refurbished and installed a liquid-cooled eco and power saving data center for the “Baltic Data Center" (BDC), TEO‘s subsidiary company. The solution of liquid-cooling of the data center is new in Lithuania as well as in other Baltic States. It will allow saving up 30 percent, i.e. 3 million kWh of electric power a year.
„The client has considerably powerful equipment while the space for such quantity is adequately limited. Our task is to find a solution, which enables effective and powerful cooling of the data center equipment, but at the same time will be space saving“, - says Valdas Vrubliauskas, the Manager of Automation and Data Networks Solutions Department. He states that Lithuanian climate increases the efficiency of such cooling solution as the outside air (free cooling) can be used for almost half a year.
Traditionally Lithuanian data centers are implemented with cooling solutions that chill the whole room which is not effective at all. Fima’s solution cools only the equipment in server rack with the outside air that costs nothing. The implemented cooling system constantly „watches” out the heat output in the server racks and, upon the need, adjusts the supply of chilled liquid quantity, thus saving power.

Vrubliauskas. - „Offering solutions to our clients we always consider innovative ideas that let the clients work in a more cost-saving and, in this instance, more environmentally- friendly way.“
The liquid-cooled data center in Vilnius was equipped by refurbishing the former data center, operating on old technologies. The refurbished data center has got duplicated 10 GB/s (gigabytes per second) speed local area network also supply sources of uninterrupted power supplies and diesel generators. Moreover, there are duplicated air conditioning, ventilation and other systems, thus the malfunction is replaced by the spare one.
