JSC“Fima” Installed the Most Modern Solution in Lithuania which Protects Buildings from Possible Incidents

Joint-stock company “Fima” completed the implementation of the first in Lithuania unique automated solution, allotted for the control of the state of the buildings. The automation of the measurement equipment of the control of the state of the buildings in the main building of Kruonis water power-station (HAE), the monitoring and the establishment of the data analysis system were performed.

According to the customer of the project, the senior engineer of Kruonis water power-station, Stanislovas Barkus, Kruonis water power-station is a complicated hydro-technical building, which requires special maintenance and control. The solution established by “Fima” will allow to ensure the stability and rigidity of the buildings even more, to analyze the state of the building, the conditions of the operational loads and pressures, forecast possible incidents and eliminate them on time,” told S. Barkus.

“The implementation of this solution is the beginning of automated solutions, allotted for the control of the state of buildings, in Lithuania,” claimed the development director of joint-stock company “Fima”, Aleksandras Klumbys. According to him, under these solutions, such incidents as unexpected breakage of the roof of a building and the like, should not occur.

Up till now, the data of monitoring all buildings of Kruonis water power-station were gathered manually. The computer program “Kruonis water power-station geo-filtration monitoring and control systems” has been created for the analysis of the data gathered during year 2002, but up till now the data were still entered into it manually. Seeking to increase the efficiency of the current monitoring system of water power-station buildings, in 2004 the subsidiary of SC “Lietuvos energija” Kruonis water power-station announced a planning competition for the modernization of the system. Since there have been no analogical automatic building state monitoring systems in Lithuania, joint-stock company “Fima” which won the competition cooperating with geology and technical specialists from Lithuania, USA, Great Britain and France performed the system planning works.

In 2005 joint-stock company “Fima” successfully carried out the installation in the main building of the power-station, new generation modern and high accuracy rip-meters, water filtration and draining water level indicators. The older embedded indicators were also integrated. All the information from the indicators is constantly gathered, stored and analyzed in the modernized program of “Kruonis water power-station geo-filtration monitoring and control systems“.

“In western countries systems of such type are installed in power-stations, dams, ports, bridges, tunnels and buildings of other purposes. This grants a possibility to know the real technical state of a building very precisely. The variation of buildings can be observed, boarding of foundations, tension of armature, splits, pressure of ground water, upheaval of the layers of the ground,” told A. Klumbys.
