“Fima” will implement 11,6 million of Litas worth Lithuanian state border security project

The electronic engineering solution company “Fima” won the competition announced by public enterprise “Central Project Management Agency” for the implementation of border security systems at the border of the Republic of Lithuania with Russia and Byelorussia.

“With the help of the implemented universal border security system VSAT will be able to record every trespassing of the border and to take the necessary measures both day and night under any weather conditions, this will allow to ensure maximal security of the borders,” claimed colonel, deputy manager of VSAT, Valentinas Novikovas.

The information recorded by the security equipment will be transferred to the subdivisions controlling those parts of the border. Except for electronic security equipment mounting during this project, a special management system will also be installed, it will allow recording and analyzing the events at the border in real time, controlling the video cameras, termovisors and other mounted equipment. All the security system equipment will be connected and the data will be transferred by the networks of optical cables.

“The winning of this competition is the achievement of a long-lasting experience and competence of “Fima” in the installation of complex security solutions”, commented director general of “Fima”, Gintaras Juknevicius. The company will manage project as the general contractor.

As was claimed by V. Novikovas, this project financed from “PHARE” funds is the initial stage in the re-organization of the security of the state borders according to the standards, which are foreseen by Schengen Agreement.

The value of the works which will be carried out by “Fima” is 11,6 million Litas.

The end of the works anticipated in the contract is summer 2006.
