“Fima” completed the project for the installation for Lithuanian railroad data transfer and communication net as well as computer electricity supply network, which lasted almost two years.

The executor of the project “Fima” installed modern 6th category computer networks, the electricity supply of the computer workplaces with a protection from overvoltage, grounding, computer network equipment in the subdivisions belonging to Lithuanian railroads (in total, 91 building). The geography of the project comprised the whole territory of Lithuania and this is one of the biggest recently implemented installation projects for computer workplaces and network equipment installations in Lithuania. After the implementation of the project, 3500 computer workplaces were created.

During this project the interior data transfer networks of the buildings (LAN) and electricity supply networks were modernized. As was claimed by the manager of the computer and data transfer network maintenance department of “Lithuanian Railways”, Laimonas Murinas, the main old building problem was solved within the limits of this project, there was no computer network at all and the old electricity supply equipment was not separated from the general usage electricity supply. Due to that cases of electricity disappearance occurred and this impeded the work.

“The project demanded an exceptionally high competence in project management, because the data transfer solution had to be adjusted individually for every building of the customer and due to wide geography of the project it was necessary to create project execution team from all the branches of the company and to coordinate its work,” claimed the Director of Automation and Data Transfer Solutions Department of “Fima”, Valdas Vrubliauskas.

“The result of the implemented project will be considered the basis for further projects in modernization and improvement of the management of activity of “Lithuanian Railways”, claimed the manager of the informational technology centre of “Lithuanian Railways”, Romualdas Kondratas. In the future “Lithuanian Railways” is planning to continue the communication net modernization works, i.e. to join the buildings into one network (WAN), which would allow all the employees of “Lithuanian Railways” to use joined planning, management and control system, to exchange the official information, to control the cargo movement flows and etc.

The computer networks installed by “Fima” were certified and they were given a producers warranty for 20 years.
The value of the implemented project is 5,2 million of Litas.
