2014
We signed a contract to electrify the rail line between Naujoji Vilnia and Lithuania’s border with Belarus. It is the country’s second railway electrification project and the first since Lithuania regained independence. As part of its contribution to the projects for the electricity distribution networks operator, LESTO, FIMA introduced smart electrical grid sectioning facilities for the first time as well as the installation of a security system at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
The FIMA Latvia team signed contracts to upgrade infrastructure at Liepaja railway station and to modernise Latvian railways’ main data communication network and completed construction of a second track on the line between Skriveri and Krustpils.
In Belarus, we installed more than 20 engineering systems at the water park in Minsk and have continued road infrastructure projects including ‘smart’ traffic-light control systems at crossroads and pedestrian crossings.
As part of our increased presence in the Polish market, we signed a contract with the Polish Seym to design and build a backup clerical data centre. FIMA Poland also contributed to a project to build a data centre in the Euro-Centrum Science and Technology Park in Katowice and introduced engineering solutions at a modern business centre, West Warsaw Office.
In 2014, our firm was awarded a gold medal at the Lithuanian Product of the Year annual awards hosted by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists for our installation of an integrated staff and vehicle access control and time and attendance registration system at Lifosa, a fertiliser plant.
