Solutions in this project

FIMA has implemented smart electrical grid sectioning facilities (reclosers) in the Klaipėda and Šiauliai regions. Should there be a breakdown of the electrical energy supply line, the facilities will, within a few seconds, automatically renew the electrical energy supply to a majority of local residents.

During the project, FIMA specialists designed and assembled nine of the very latest switchboard facilities on 10kV electrical lines in both the Klaipėda and Šiauliai regions. These remote-controlled facilities are the first of their kind in Lithuania; in case of a breakdown, they restore they automatically restore the electrical energy supply within seconds.

The facilities are integrated with SCADA, the control and communications system previously installed by FIMA in electrical substations run by LESTO. Valentas Titarenka, project manager at FIMA, said: “This ensures the dispatcher units are notified of breakdowns in specific sections in real time. Once LESTO staff members identify and resolve a problem, dispatchers can restore electrical energy supply remotely and in no time at all. For the most part, the local residents do not even notice that there has been a breakdown, while others benefit from restoration of electrical energy supply almost immediately, without the delays that there were before”.
