During the second track construction project, FIMA has reconstructed the existing traffic controls, telecommunications and power supply systems, and SCADA, catenary network and electric point heating systems, adapting them to the modified track network.

To achieve smoother and faster transit freight carriage in the directions of Kaunas and Klaipėda, the second track construction project has been implemented on the Vilnius bypass railway section, Pušynas–Paneriai.

Participating in this project, FIMA has reconstructed the existing traffic control, telecommunications and power supply systems, and SCADA, catenary network and electric point heating systems, adapting them to the modified track network.

One of the critical challenges while implementing this project was coordinating the work implementation technology and succession with all project participants, considering that the system installation work had to be performed without interrupting train traffic.

The existing point heating system has undergone reconstruction for the heating of the newly installed points. To supply power to the railway infrastructure facilities, modular and pole-mount transformer substations have been installed, the overhead power lines have been replaced with underground cables, and switch yards lighting has been provided. The signal installations and station loudspeaker system have also been adapted to the newly built railway. The catenary network has been reconstructed, which required performing the majority of the installation works during night time traffic pauses due to interrupted train traffic. The project works included the installation of a large-scale cable duct system measuring more than 5 km in length.

The total length of railways built and reconstructed during this project is 14.6 km. The total value of the implemented project amounts to EUR 27.5m.
