Solutions in this project

  • Specialised software
  • Online portal
  • Interface to banking systems and cash registers
  • Ticket sale and checking devices

The project involved the installation of new ticket sale software on every ticket sale terminal owned by AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai, upgrading ticket sale/validation systems on trains and designing a website for ticket sales. All of these systems are integrated in the central system.

After a commission from AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai, FIMA designed and installed a system for online seat reservation and ticket sale – the first such project for the company in the rail sector.

E-ticketing system offers gives passengers more flexibility and convenience and enables AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai to make a range of travel-related information available to the customer more effectively as well as promoting other interesting offers.

The new e-ticketing system combines various ticket sales channels. The system ensures seat reservation and ticket sale at railway stations, on board trains and online along with fully automated accounting. The system features an interface with SAP, the data processing system used by the company, a module for warning passengers of any changes in travel conditions as well as integrated time tables and prices.

The project also included renovation of the entire system of ticket sales on board trains: rail staff received new devices for the sale and validation of tickets which can also identify and validate tickets bought online. Prior to the installation of the system, most of these functions were performed manually.

Project exclusivity

This is the first time an e-ticketing system has been implemented in the Lithuanian national railway system.
