Solutions in this project

  • Meteorology monitoring system

FIMA set up a new automatic meteorology monitoring system complying with ICAO recommendations at the Lithuanian Air Force Air Base in Šiauliai.

FIMA set up a new automatic meteorology monitoring system at the Lithuanian Air Force Base in Šiauliai, replacing equipment which had been there since the base’s establishment.

Modern meteorological sensors and devices provide weather forecasters and aircraft crews with more accurate data, something that is of great importance not only to the air force and NATO air police missions but also to the civil aviation industry.

FIMA installed devices and sensors near and on the base’s runway to provide data on air temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, runway visibility, horizontal visibility aloft, cloud height, atmospheric pressure, amount and type of precipitation, intensity of meteorological phenomena, thunderstorms and conditions on the runway. In total, 23 different sensors and devices were installed.
